Description
Create detailed bangle bracelets from wire with these new circular forming presses. Each press is made of two interlocking halves of hardened steel and a keyed center post to keep the two halves aligned. Use with any soft non-ferrous wire (copper, brass, silver, etc.) up to 10 gauge (2.6 mm dia.). Choose from several designs. Mix, match, or stack multiple bracelets for a fun look. The presses can also be used to form large hoop earrings. Each press measures 3″ in diameter x 1.5″ high. Made in India. Bend a length of soft wire into an open circle or oval the size and shape of the bracelet you want to make. To refine the shape, use a rawhide or nylon mallet on a bracelet mandrel or a pair of large forming pliers.
Separate the two halves of the press and center your wire on the lower half (the side with the post attached).
Slide the upper half of the press onto the lower half and strike it several times with a medium weight hammer – we recommend brass or weighted rawhide, but most any non-steel hammer will work.
Remove the bangle from the press and size as needed. Cut off excess wire and file the ends for an open bangle or solder them together for a closed bangle.
Optionally, use a steel hammer to flatten or add texture to the wire while hardening it to better retains its shape.
